How to get a great men’s suit that looks good and feels great

By: ann pan

If you are a professional who lives in suits through the week, you know that finding men’s suits that look good and feel great can be difficult. Many men opt for what they think are tailored suits but which are in fact simply outfits that are off the rack and which may be low in quality despite the fact that their price tags can still be quite high.

A good men’s suit should fall well and be comfortable to wear. It should be timeless and feature details that flatter the figure and which will not go out of style quickly. Tailored suits such as double breasted suits in neutral colors are unlikely to go out of style and remain popular throughout the years. However, when you are getting a men’s suit, it will tend to look better and more stylish if it has been perfectly tailored and fits your body very well.

One way to get tailored suits is to look for ones that are completely made to measure. Tailored suits that are made to measure do not start off with a suit that has been taken off a rack. They involve taking a series of precise measurements and then the pattern is created for you. This means that a men’s suit that is made to measure will take into account any figure issues that you may have such as shorter legs, longer arms, or shoulders which are broader than the average man’s. It also takes into account the way you move, sit and stand which can result in suits which feel great when you wear them.

A great men’s suit will have seams which do not wear easily. Tailored suits that are made to measure are hand sewn and are often sewn to a canvas shell or base which will provide extra strength and stability. A floating canvas framework lends the seams stability, and a tailored suit that has one of these cores can often be worn on a daily basis without worrying about shortening its lifespan.

A good men’s suit should also use high quality fabrics. This can be difficult to find in tailored suits that are not custom made. Many makers of men’s suits will use poor-quality fabrics in an attempt to keep their costs down, and unfortunately this means that they may wear out quickly, develop gaps and holes in the seams, or develop shiny or bare patches as the surface threads wear away. Men’s suits that are handmade will not have these problems since they use top quality fabrics in their construction. Even the lining fabrics which may also develop tears and holes in poor quality men’s suits will not do so in tailored suits that are made by hand.

You may look at the prices of some tailored suits and worry that they are outside your price range. However, this is not always the case. It is possible to find men’s suits that have been made by hand and which will not break your clothing budget. When you consider the fact that tailored suits can be worn more frequently and will last longer before needing to be replaced, you will see why it makes sense to make this investment.
