Gaining muscle requires a combination of training methods that can seem complex when you are first starting out. Focusing on getting a solid training routine happening is one of the most important steps to reaching your fitness goals.
I’ve put together 10 simple tips which can help you to start developing a great routine and start loving exercise.
1. Focus on Resistance Training. Resistance training exercises are the most effective ways to build muscle, but you must get stronger to build muscle.
Starting out with lighter weights and learning the proper techniques is essential to building lean muscle. Once you have mastered the basic movements, you can start adding weight to each exercise. Getting stronger is vital to building muscle.
2. Muscles grow during recovery periods, not during the actual training. You need to let your muscles have time to recover after a weight training session. This is where the muscle gains are made.
3. Start off with a routine of 3 days per week. This will give you ample time to rest between sessions and will also prevent you from overtraining. Overtraining can lead to a reduction in muscle building.
4. Change your diet. When building muscle it is important to give your body the proper amounts of protein, carbohydrates and fats to aid in the recovery process.
5. Research protein supplements that can assist your body in the recovery process. Although it is important to remember that these are as the name suggests "supplements" and they must be used in conjunction with a good diet to get maximum benefit.
6. Get a training partner. Having someone hit the gym with you will give you motivation and can help you to keep a solid training routine.
7. Focus on exercises that use large muscle groups. For example Bench Press, Leg Press and Lat Pulldowns. These exercises focus on the major muscles in the body and by using these exercises regularly, it allows you to gain muscle quickly and effectively.
8. Train with intensity. Make sure that when you are in the gym that you put 100% effort into each set.
9. Add a competitive element. Whether you are trying to beat your own personal best or beat your training partners, a competition can really help you to make it to the next level in your training.
10. Have fun with your training. Make sure that you train hard but you enjoy each session. Adding together the 9 other steps in this list will allow you to reach your goals much faster. Its always a good feeling when you start to accomplish a goal you set for yourself.
