When you secure a toddler onto your bike there are some safety issues that you want to be sure and cover off, besides the obvious like everyone should wear a helmet.
When you attach a seat on your bike, you have some issues that should be checked off before you and your toddler ride off into the sunset.

It is essential to realize that having the extra weight of a toddler on your bike will effect where the center of gravity is. It’s vital that you have a good quality, strong bike with a good frame, at the very least; to insure both you and your toddler will be safe.

“Make sure that you are a capable cyclist as the centre of gravity is higher and how your bike operates and feels could alter,” said Cheryl Elmo.
“Make sure that when you start out, that you are paying attention, don’t reach around to grab something or get out something, that is often when the bike will tip over and can be dangerous,” said Cheryl Elmo.

Choose the ride that you take carefully, and try to stay away from major arterials as often they have a lot of confusion that make riding with a toddler on board difficult and hazardous. “If you can take quieter side routes it is likely the best thing for you and for your toddler,” said Cheryl Elmo.
