Adorn Your Rooftop With An Eagle Weathervane

Eagle weathervanes can provide a feeling of loyalty for your country when they sit atop your home or garage roof. They can even add a sense of beauty to even simple houses.

There is no other creature that displays the qualities of courage, strength and freedom like eagles do. Soaring freely high in the skies, eagles are the epitome of grace and beauty.

Because of this, it is only fitting that the original American colonies choose this as the symbol of their new homes after they were liberated from Great Britain.

It was thought at the time that the bald eagle could only be found in America, further cementing its suitability as a national emblem. Whilst the eagle was not without its critics, most notably Franklin, the symbol was chosen and remains to this day. Not only does the eagle feature as a national emblem, but is also present in the seals of many states. It stands to reason that many choose the same figure to adorn their houses.

To make sure your weathervane looks good in its placement, you need to choose the right size. So before you purchase one, you need to determine where you plan to place it. Also, if your roof is not set up for a weathervane, you will need to find good mounting hardware.

For use with a cupola, the best weathervane for you will be relatively the same size. So if your cupola is 40 inches, the best weather vane is 35 to 45 inches measured vertically. You also need to consider how it will look from the view of the ground. Typically, an item that is very high up will look even smaller when you view it standing on the ground. Smaller weathervanes are best suited to be positioned closer to the ground.

Eagle weathervanes often consist of a flying eagle in a fixed position, with a freely rotating vane underneath, which will always point directly into the wind. Usually, with such ornate vanes, the four points of the compass also feature to help determine the wind direction at a quick glance. Vanes are sold with a connecting rod and spacers; however check with the vendor if any additional parts are required. Brass, aluminum, steel and copper are all frequently used in construction as they do not rust and keep their sheen for longer.

Eagle weathervanes display all the wonderful characteristic of freedom and bravery that any person would be happy to display. I cannot imagine any other symbol that would be best suited to stand on top of houses everywhere
