Feature Article Writing Energize Your Feature Article With These Seven Key Ways

By: Gen Wright

Here's how you can energize your feature articles:

1. Be observant. As a feature article writer, it will work to your advantage if you keep a notepad and pen handy as you will never know when a great idea will hit you. If you've thought of brilliant topic ideas while you're driving and you forgot about it later, you'll know what I mean.

2. Do your research. Explore all those ideas that you've written in your notepad. See if they have been already explored by other writers and determine which of these topics are currently in-demand. This will make the process of choosing your topics a lot easier for you.

3. Use eye-catching headlines. Start the writing process by creating a killer title for each of your feature articles. They must be relatively short, descriptive, and they must be reader-magnet. Tell your potential readers what's in it for them. If possible, pique their curiosity so you can easily get them to read on.

4. Start right. Start light. Present an anecdote; ask a simple question, or a descriptive passage. Your goal here is to hook your readers while entertaining them all at the same time. Make sure that you use their language so they can easily relate with your content.

5. Keep it short and simple. Your audience will most likely to read your articles because they would like to be entertained. So, don't even bother creating feature articles that will run for more than 5 pages if you can communicate your ideas using 2 or 3. Also, keep it simple. Your audience will most likely to enjoy the experience if they don't need to check out their dictionary or if you will not leave them puzzled. Offer complete information, keep your sentences short, and use common terms all the time. If needed, offer relevant examples or relate personal stories to promote better understanding. You can also insert images if possible.

6. Review your articles after a day or two. Here's the truth; you will not be able to effectively proofread your article right after you write it. This is due to mental fatigue. Your mind will surely fail to recognize even the glaring mistakes that you've committed. So, give it a rest and review your articles after 24-48 hours. By doing so, you'll have more space and time to objectively reevaluate your content, tweak it up to improve it, or add new ideas.

7. Ask for feedback. Before you submit your feature article to your publishers, I recommend that you show it to your trusted friends or to those neutral third parties who understand the ropes of feature article writing. Let them critique your copy and don't take anything personal. Getting the opinions of other people is the best way to figure out your weaknesses and the best way to improve your articles.
